Strawberry and Gooseberry Jam

¾ lb | gooseberries | ¼ pint | water |
2 lb | strawberries | 3 lb | granulated sugar |
Method
Wash the gooseberries and top and tail them.
Place in a pan with the water and simmer gently till well broken down.
Cut the strawberries into halves or quarters depending on the size and add to the pan.
Continue simmering until well broken down. Add the sugar and proceed as usual.
This is easier to get a set than strawberries alone, loses little of the strawberry flavour and keeps better.
